#KeepingItReal builds real relationships online

God knew what he was doing from the very beginning.
He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son…
We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.  ~Romans 8:29, The Message

Online is a place where it’s easy to hide behind an image of what you want to be instead of being real about what you’re in the process of becoming. If you can accept God’s unconditional love and be comfortable in your under-construction self, He’ll use you exactly where you are as a point of light for others.

“Friendship blossoms when two people say to each
other, in effect: ‘What, you too?
I thought I was the only one.” – C.S. Lewis

God is intentional about how and when His children’s lives intersect. It takes courage to let on that the odds are stacked against you and that life is far from ideal. But keeping it real is critical to real relationship building. And you just never know, your transparency may be what inspires people to take that first step in seeking God.

People already know your aren’t perfect, which makes it okay to say: “I’m a mess.”

It’s in our moments of humility and need that you become transparent, vulnerable, and approachable. Living out this kind of honesty online will set you free and maybe that is just what someone else needs to be set free, too.

You are under construction. But God will use you where you are . He always finishes what He starts. #LiveSticky

What’s the most transparent thing you want to share today?

  • Dedra Herod

I crave more time with Him and constantly need to re-prioritize my life.. He reminds me that I’m a mess so sweetly. Getting out of my head and over myself is a constant.

Me too, Dedra – but oh so grateful to be a mess #AllForHim!

I believe our transparency is absolutely the necessary ingredient for bringing life and love to a hurting world. People are bombarded with enough fake. Encountering someone who is unafraid to be real is like water in a desert. Thanks for this reminder and the encouragment!

That’s a great C.S. Lewis quote! And I totally agree that it’s so important to become more transparent, vulnerable and approachable in times of need — even hurt/pain/shame.

I started to notice that when I feel attacked or blamed, I build up a wall of resistance, and it doesn’t help me to hear what the other person is saying because I start taking it personally/preparing to defend myself. I’ve been praying that God help me have eyes to see and ears to hear, and I believe this is a prayer being answered, truly.

Still under construction, like you mentioned :) Praying for courage to be more vulnerable.

    Thank you!

I pray we all get closer to the truly vulnerable place – I know when I am there – God does His greatest work in me. Thanks for sharing your heart with us – hope to see you again.
