so what are you standing for online?

Live StickyIf therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

Philippians 2:1-2, NASB

world wide momentum

The reach of social networking is inestimable. The digital revolution has changed disaster recovery efforts forever. Social networks proved critical in the minutes and hours following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January 2010. Social networking became lifelines for people trying to get information about loved ones as traditional communication channels failed.

For the first time in the history of a global tragedy, nearly $32 million was donated to the Red Cross using mobile phone texts. Within hours of the May 2010 Nashville flood, volunteers mobilized and donations poured in, in large part due to the speed and agility of social networks.

good news

The church is gaining momentum online. Christian leaders are starting to share the gospel through social networking channels. Pastors, youth leaders, missionaries, paraministries, artists, worship leaders, and writers are putting out compelling content, building platforms, and making inroads for the Kingdom every day.

More and more churches include social networking time in their overall outreach efforts, and a growing number use their influence to build momentum around the causes they feel called to support.

make a statement

One of the ways a community can visually support a cause online is by the use of profile banners called Twibbons. These clever identifiers can be easily added to your twitter and facebook profile pictures.  Twibbons are a fun and effective way to take a stand, unify a community, spark some buzz or launch a movement. When you get a chance, surf through all the options at the Twibbon website.

Last week we gave you the download on what it means to #LiveSticky. Now you have an opportunity to visually join our community by applying a #LiveSticky Twibbon to your profile picture . We invite you to make it happen right here-right now-in just a few quick clicks. Come on and join us!

If you could create a twibbon for today, what would it say?

Post/Tweet this:

Conviction without action is worthless. Take courage. Stand alone. Be counted. #LiveSticky
