No. 2 social media secret weapon: face it

social media, coffee, Sticky Jesus, share Jesus online, evangelism, fellowship“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” ~Hebrews 10:24-25, NIV

This week we’re going old school and revealing Five Social Media Secret Weapons (one a day) that will significantly amp your time online as a Christ follower.

Secret #2: the coffee cup. That’s right. The best online conversations spring from our offline time when we meet in face-to-face (F2F) fellowship with other believers. You are part of the body of Christ and critical to its health. Take that sacred gift seriously. Don’t let your online time siphon the power of fellowship.

3 things that happen in F2F fellowship:

Encouragement & strength. Life is hard—fellowship is critical. F2F fellowship will pour wisdom, encouragement, and truth into your life so you can get back in the game mission-focused.

Spiritual growth: Nothing grows your faith like prayer with other believers, studying God’s word, and corporate worship. Nothing.

Supernatural unity. Early Christians didn’t just have fellowship; the bible says they devoted themselves to it. Fellowship means we belong to each other in relationship because we share the life that comes with the grace of Jesus Christ. When the body of Christ functions properly it is a family (or what the Latin culture more accurately calls familia)—and a place where unconditional love, provision, and grace abounds.

In the last couple of months I have felt the same prodding from the Lord and have jumped back into intentional F2F time. Accountability group, mentoring and community are key to keeping me focused on Him and empowering me to be His light. Great post!
