No. 5 & 6 social media secret weapons: power up

prayer, bible study, social media, Christians online, Joanne Heim, Toben Heim“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” ~Isaiah 55:11

As Christians we use social media differently. So, this week we introduced you to four old school tactics to amp your time online: sneakers (log off, get outside), a coffee cup (face to face fellowship), a kitchen timer (guard your time), and letter writing (connect heart to hand).

Secret weapons #5 & #6: Our last two Social Media Secret Weapons go together: the bible and a prayer journal. Both need to rule your time, your heart, and your intention. Every single day.

3 ways the Word & prayer empowers your time online:

God owns your stream. When we anoint ourselves with God’s word before logging on, He owns our words—and hence, He becomes our words. Every viral, tweetable, postable word carries His message, heart, agenda, and motive to the world.

Prayer moves mountains. If you get a prayer journal and really begin to listen to and pray for others online, the world will begin to look entirely different to you. And, you’ll likely get to see some amazing things transpire. Prayer is the secret sauce of the effective prayer, bible, Christianity, Sticky Jesus, prayer journalChristian life. It’s what will set you apart as a Christ follower because it brings you up close and personal with the living, loving God daily. Every day, warriors are rising up and making a difference with prayer online. Here’s a great example of prayer moving mountains online and a blogging/tweeting community faithfully #prayingforjoanne.

God changes you. Reading God’s word daily and asking Him to bless your communications and digital interactions throughout the day will dramatically impact YOU—and hence, your online time. There’s simply no way you can read His word and not be changed from the inside out. One great side effect you can expect is that while you tweet under God’s anointing, He will often speak to you as well as others. (Yes, that’s the addictive part of Twitter for us!)

Do you regularly seek God before you log online?

I am constantly in the Word in the morning. I have my devotion, my journal and my bible that I read every morning. When I go days without it, I feel as though my days are a little more anxious than with it.

Yes. Yes. Yes. You are so on track. Keep preaching. Need I say more?

Gordon, Michelle: I’m with you guys! I seriously feel depleted (and even dangerous dare I say?) when I have not soaked in the Word. Prayer has allowed me to move some pretty big mental mountains lately but everyday, it’s back to work seeking, surrendering, and trusting. Feels like God has me on a choke chain lately — prayer is that imperative. Bless ya’ll. Thanks for weighing in!

You said what needed to be said. Yes. Yes. Yes. Thanks Gordon!
