Don’t slip quietly into heaven. You’ve been anointed for war.

“Let us not glide through this world and then slip quietly into heaven, without having blown the trumpet loud and long for our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Let us see to it that the devil will hold a thanksgiving service in hell, when he gets the news of our departure from the field of battle.” ~C. T. Studd

It’s messy, this war. The shrapnel of flesh and bone is nowhere to be found; still the death toll rises. Dark and light come to blows in a fiery clash and the battlefield rattles beneath our boots. The arms we bear—love, mercy, grace—have brought rebels to ruin and taken down Kings.

Today, you’ve been chosen to meet with the Almighty.

Today, you’ve been anointed to war like David and preach like Paul.

Today, you’ve been given victory over the perimeters of heaven.

Take up your arms:

  1. Examination & Prayer. Read 2 Corinthians 13:5.
  2. Forgiveness & Cleansing. Read 1 John 1:9.
  3. An Undivided Heart. Read I Chronicles 28:9.
  4. The Word. Read Proverbs 4:13.
  5. Fellowship. Read Hebrews 10:25.
  6. The Crown. Read 1 Corinthians 9: 24-25.

Can you feel the war that wages around you? What weapons have you chosen?

I feel like God just served me breakfast through your words. It amazes me–these verses counteract plots I see now the devil has laid against me, things I have been thinking lately that were rendering me ineffective. And of course I had no idea. Thank you thank you for being His messenger today. Who says there are no modern day apostles? (“apostle” means “one sent” :)

OK – my weapon is perseverance. The Word tells us not to discouraged – which in Hebrew means to break down with force. That’s like taking a baseball bat to the knees. So like Gandalf, we need to lift the sheild of faith with courage and declare, “You shall not pass!!”

And I will be standing right there beside you!

Nancy, lend me your AK-40 filled with perseverance. Jesus wants you to share. I love that you brought Gandalf into the conversation, it’s his official debut on StickyJesus. What I love more is that you’ve added breaking kneecaps to the picture of war we’ve painted—it feels like that some days. We will not be intimidated nor shall we let the enemy pass! Great input!

And you Jennifer are our commenting apostle. Your connection sure did minister to the need today. Thank you so much, our candid, colorful, creative sister and we love when you take the time to connect and make the conversation come alive.

Ineffective, my friend, you are NOT.

My weapon is faith…with all the various things I’ve gone through in life, that is the strongest most powerful weapon I have.

Faith is the strongest force on earth . . . it has been known to blast mountains into a million pieces . . . good choice of artillery, Jennifer! :)

Amen and Amen! One of my key weapons is my personal testimony of what God’s done in my life. He’s proven time and time again that He is capable of all things.

Today I am tightening my belt of Truth and enlarging my shield of faith. Our God lives…reigns…wins! End of story. :) :)

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. – Rev. 12:11

Dana, that’s one of my FAV verses! Thanks for the spirit nudge toward freedom this morning! We need to speak our testimony—as one of our most powerful weapons in our arsenal! Amen!

Amen! I stand beside you, Teasi. Our armor glistens in the sunlight. Our eyes are fixed. We’ve pressed into God and come up with His war plan. We advance. No turning back. Love you my dear friend!
