what does your ringtone reveal about you?

Do you remember a time when a phone would ring and that was all it did – just ring? If you hear that happening today, more than likely someone found a download that makes them  feel oh-so-retro.

Have you thought about what your ringtone reveals about you? After all, you picked it. Hopefully you get that every time it rings, it broadcasts a message about you. As technology pushes commerce faster to the mobile platform, the interaction between you and your phone will intensify. Consider your current ringtone. Do you like what it says about you?

If you’re interested in a ringtone that signals when a call comes in, but also reminds you that you are His message going out, then checkout  The Message by All 4 Him. Now be inspired and enjoy this video of the song.

To live a love that never fails, to love my neighbor as myself

And to give until there’s nothing left to give

To live a faith that never dies, to be crucified with Christ

Until all that lives through me is a message.

Songwriters: Donald Koch, Michael Omartian, and Marcus Harris

I make my own ringtones from my music.. Right now it’s “Here We Are” by Habour Live. It’s my church’s live worship album. The clip is “all of the earth cries out for sons and daughters to be discovered…well here we are, well here we are, well here we are!”

You are so funny Claire! I totally pegged you as a Jesus Culture song cranked up to about a 10! Here’s a trivia nugget for you: You know how we talk about Land Of Shiny Things in our book @stickyJesus? Well the ackronymn for that “place” is L.O.S.T. So there you are—you really are evangelizing with your LOST Soundtrack ringtone. Love you girl! you couldn’t stop evangelizing if you tried!

Ok, Tony, now we will know you from your “favorite coffee mug,” and your “here we are” ringtone. I cannot wait to run into you at Starbucks! Fun!

  • Tami Heim

Well, there you are! Okay this makes me want to call you right now, I’d love to hear your worship-filled ‘Hello’ on the other end. You are a constant inspiration to us. Thanks for being here.

  • Tami Heim

No way Claire, that’s a crazy coincidence, don’t you think? You know around here, when we think of LOST…our mind is ‘stuck’ in the Land Of Shiny Things. Amazing how God has everything connected. Glad we have a direct link with you!

As my son would say, “No offense, but . . . ” I’m much less startled by an old-fashioned ring tone. My phone just rings (and chirps.) Does that make me retro?

  • Tami Heim

Snady you’re hipster and heart all rolled into one. Wouldn’t want you any other way.

My ringtone on my EVO is Curve…..hmmm what is that saying about me? It is a really melodic sounding ringtone, not abrasive, and very soothing. I do need my ringtones to be loud cause half the time I am sitting in a gym where it is very loud, (plus in my old age I will admit my hearing ain’t what it used to be). I used to assign ringtones to different people then I found myself assigning the ringtones that are more abrasive to people I might not want to talk to (confession) as if to warn me when they call. Not nice. So decided everyone will get the same tone cause that is how I want to treat everyone…..the same no matter if I want to talk to them or not.
Great message, great word and spirit conviction…..amen.
    love,

You are such a sweet soul. How kind you didn’t even want your ringtones to communicate something negative about the people calling. My true confession is that mine is still playing the Hallelujah Chorus. I love Christmas and the joy that bursts forth in that song. One time while I was praying with a large group my phone went off as if ‘divinely’ timed for the request being made. HMMM. Nothing like the sound of praise to keep you heart focused on heaven.

  • Tami Heim

Gotta love Donna Summers – here’s to him ‘treatin’ you right”

I have chosen different ringtones on my phone for my most frequent callers. I put thought into each one so that it was what I thought fit their personalities. . . My oldest daughter Emily…Vivaldi… for my youngest One of the Charlie Brown themes…(she loves Charlie, Lucy and Snoopy and the gang) and for me? a beautiful classical piece…I had the Hallelujah chorus Christmas and then for my Sisters ring tone for awhile. At work their are tv’s on all day on HGTV and there is a commercial that has the Hallelujah chorus playing……it is the exact one I chose for my sister….now I think my sister is always calling… I have even reached for my phone on occasion and we’re not permitted to use cell phones in the doctors office where I work……….eeek! I love being able to choose my tones. Thanks stickyjesus for the reminder of the messages we convey daily!

  • Tami Heim

Carla you have always been so creative. It doesn’t surprise me that you have selected your ringtones with so much care. Like you, they are a beautiful extension of the one who holds your heart. Thanks for coming by – I love seeing you here my friend.
