There’s a time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth. Ecclesiastes 3:1, The Message
By Tami Heim
Almost every day @stickyJesus there’s a conversation with someone that isn’t convinced he or she can make a Kingdom impact on social media networks. When pressing in on this topic, we discover that fear is holding the perception of time hostage. If you aren’t wise to the enemy’s tactics, he’ll easily use that fear of wasted time to keep your salt and light from infiltrating the online world.
Candidly, it’s time to pin fear to the ground and the enemy with it.
If you’ve been following us for any amount of time, you know everything has to start with prayer. And of course we’re not letting you off the hook here. Pray, wait, and seek are mandatory first steps for any Christ follower intentional about God’s agenda online. You can’t effectively log on if you haven’t adequately powered up. Once you’ve established a solid connection, you’re ready to execute this 30 minute plan online.
THE 30 MINUTE PLAN
SHARE – When you spend time with God, you never leave empty. Online is a perfect place to spread what He’s deposited in you. A daily verse, quote, picture, or video post could sum up His word to your heart for the day. When you bring your daily serving of fish and loaves to the networks, He will use you to feed the multitudes.
ACKNOWLEDGE – Check your network walls and see if anyone has come by since you were last there. Make others feel valued when they stop by your page. Return a greeting. Offer a thank-you. ‘Like’ a comment or keep a friendly conversation going.
ENCOURAGE – Seek out 2-3 people you know and splash a word or two of encouragement on their walls. Speak hope to the discouraged. Rejoice in the success of others. Remind someone exactly why he or she is special to you. Bless and be a blessing to someone every day.
ACCEPT – Make sure you take part of your time to accept new friends daily. Personally welcome new people and let them know you are excited to meet them.
ECHO– When you find inspiration in what someone else posts – pass it on. It’s a cyber way of paying kindness forward. Be a willing part of God’s distribution channel and keep His truth flowing.
ENGAGE – Push beyond your comfort zone and reach out. You can meet new people in the places they frequent and by discussing topics that seem to interest them most. Be on the lookout and initiate a conversation with at least two new people a day. Trust God and He’ll bring divine meetings to you.
This little plan is simple to execute, requires no more than 30 minutes of your day, and will help you begin to make a Kingdom impact on whatever social media platform you use. Always remember, it’s about the quality of your relationships, not the quantity of them. Build trust and cyber doors will open to you and the God you serve.
What other ways are you leveraging your time online to make a Kingdom impact?
