how knowing the truth changes you

By grace, through faith you are saved.

By Tami Heim

Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  – Colossians 3:1-3

In that transforming moment on the Damascus road,  Paul gets God’s plan and immediately begins to live out the paramount truth of it. He endures many trials and relentlessly presses through all of them to make the Gospel known.

Knowing the truth, Paul can’t help himself. There’s no other option.

10 point power plan: resisting evil and online tempation

Do not hear, see, or speak evil.

By Tami Heim

For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. – James 1:13-14, NIV

Like a modern-day postcard of James’ letter to the 12 tribes, this picture communicates profound wisdom. The message is increasing relevant and desperately needed in this wired world. If you spend a good portion of time on the Internet, how you receive and respond to it may be the difference between living out your faith online and losing it.

Your ears, eyes, and mouth are portals to the soul and every day, you decide how to regulate what goes in and what comes out. How many times have you done an innocent Google search and among the results you find something far different from what you intended? Exactly.

The Real Danger

50 reflections full of grace and ready to be given away

Unending Love - Amazing Grace

By Tami Heim

I love weddings.

Regardless of the grandeur or simplicity of the ceremony, I find weddings breathtaking, sacred, and bursting with promise. And so it was when my daughter, Zoë, married Matthew Perry Henry Malone in the summer of 2009. The wedding theme was “Grace and Love” and their first dance was to a Kutless song of the same title.

Sweetly overwhelmed by the grace and love of the One that redeemed them, Zoë and Matt wanted their wedding celebration to be an outpouring of God’s presence in their lives. Undeniably inspired by this special day and their passionate vows to relentlessly pursue God, I’m drawn to quotes about grace.

This week I felt a gentle nudge to share some of my favorites with you. My prayer is that each one reminds you how preciously you’ve been wrapped in His unending love and amazing grace. I’m also praying that if you find a favorite  quote here, you will take a moment to copy, paste, and post it so others can be encouraged, too.

10 steps to becoming a hero

Peter, my young friend in Jeremie, Haiti

By Tami Heim

I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters; you were doing it to me. Matthew 25:40, NLT

Do you ever feel numb to the tragedy and pain in the world? Perhaps it happens most often on those days when you find yourself wondering, “Will there actually be enough grace to get me through this life I’m living?”

How do you wrap your head around need in the world? It’s too big, overwhelming, and seemingly impossible to satisfy. Present everywhere, philanthropic and mission-oriented organizations approach you with a plea for help. How can you bring relief, a smile, or anything that would make a difference?

So much need  and so little you.

Do you can look away, turn the TV channel, flip the page, change the radio station, click off the video, or allow an urgent request to float right by in a social media stream?

choosing faithfulness and why it matters

Choose faithfulness.

I choose faithfulness…Today I will keep my promises. My debtors will not regret their trust. My associates will not question my word. My wife will not question my love. And my children will never fear that their father will not come home. – Max Lucado

By Tami Heim
Faithfulness is a sticky word. It adheres firmly and steadfastly connects to a person, cause, or idea. It’s loyal, constant, and true – worthy of complete trust and absolute belief. It breathes affection and speaks allegiance. Resolute in cause and purpose, faithfulness is both determined and reliable. It never quits.

God wants you to know – He’s more than enough for you

...day after day he carries us along...Psalm 68:19

He who has God has everything; he who has everything but God has nothing. – St. Augustine

By Tami Heim
It’s a tumultuous venture, this walking by faith. At one time or another, you encounter the completely unexpected followed by the unthinkable. And when it happens, the impact of it brings you to your knees, able to utter only one desperate word – “Why?”

It’s an intense battle when you’re that overwhelmed. First there’s shock and anger, then comes denial, “This can’t be what my great, almighty, and loving God has planned for me – not me, not His beloved child.”

the process of growing in Christ

The Author and Finisher of Our Faith

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and has set down at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2

By Tami Heim

Spiritual transformation is a process where surrender and sanctification bring about passion, purpose, and action. You understand who you are, why you’re here, what’s going on in the world, and how you fit into it. Divinely ordered, this holy sequence is intentionally directed and mapped out for eternity.

Here’s how it unfolds….

You decide.

You commit to follow Jesus and the life-altering work of the Holy Spirit begins. The combination of your resolve and His indwelling sparks a massive recalibration of your desires and destiny.

Life changes.

Strongholds from the past begin to fall away, healing is activated, and you discover a purpose for being, knowing, loving, and serving. You observe the world as God does and you feel deeply the heartbreak for the things that break His heart. You abide in Him and your path becomes clear.
