the gift of being called “a friend”

I call you, friend.

No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. – John 15:15, NKJV

Jesus called His followers friends long before it was culturally cool for you to call your online followers the same.  If you look to and learn from the Author and Finisher of your faith you’ll experience the breadth and depth of what it means to be called a friend. There is no better day than this one to fall in love again with the Giver of so great a gift.

how knowing the truth changes you

By grace, through faith you are saved.

Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above,not earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  – Colossians 3:1-3

In that transforming moment on the Damascus road,  Paul gets God’s plan and immediately begins to live out the paramount truth of it. He endures many trials and relentlessly presses through all of them to make the Gospel known.

Knowing the truth, Paul can’t help himself. There’s no other option.

It’s a tumultuous venture, this walking by faith. At one time or another, you encounter the completely unexpected followed by the unthinkable. And when it happens, the impact of it brings you to your knees, able to utter only one desperate word – “Why?”

It’s an intense battle when you’re that overwhelmed. First there’s shock and anger, then comes denial, “This can’t be what my great, almighty, and loving God has planned for me – not me, not His beloved child.”
